Theropods are a group of dinosaurs; they are bipedal and typically carnivorous, and are one of two dinosaur groups known to have feathers or feather-like structures. Theropods are usually considered to be part of Saurischia, alongside sauropods, but a 2017 study suggests they are actually more closely related to Ornithischia, in the proposed group Ornithosceldia. They are the only surviving group of dinosaurs, these extant members being birds.
